It does appear (even though my posts do not) that someone who knows something about why our posts are not updating would find a way to let us know why and when the system will be operational again. Assuming it will, that is.
I've tried to post HERE at least 3 times today and I can't even do THAT.
Will the last one out please turn the lights off?

As a matter of common sense, perhaps BlogDrive should have the common courtesy to please explain to all of us in a timely manner (and especially so beforehand) when (and why) they will be going offline (or, for that matter, explain the clear and specific nature of problems for which a timely advance notice was not possible beforehand).
I, for one, am of the kind as believes that a company should either do it right the first time, or else make it right. How many of you are with me in this respect? _________________ The Exaggerator ... a thinking blog (with online shopping) in and for these ignorant and superstitious times |

Well I say -- looks like business-as-usual in the Blogdrive forum. I've not been on this board in a while because -- even though you can find some helpful advice in this forum from time-to-time -- I've come to not like the endless back and forth in here.
True-to-form, I made updates to the side-section of my blog, Aria, yesterday and -- true-to-form -- they have YET to even show up.
Back when I joined BD in 2005, this host NEVER seemed to have so many problems! I've come to expect this service to have maintenance from time-to-time, but I never DREAMED it would result in so much frequent downtime -- and I SELDOM come in here to complain about it.
Sadly, whenever this (very) periodic downtime occurs, the same trend of users -- both new and established -- voicing their concerns (and consequently) being patronized and (sometimes) insulted occurs. It's sad but -- this forum has become quite redundant and non-useful. People with paid accounts -- myself included -- are perfectly within their RIGHTS to be upset and to voice that in here -- or should be. I pray the braintrust at Blogdrive gets this frequent downtime issue under control -- this is too MUCH.

Back in February I stopped blogging here (temporarily, I thought) until the problems that were being experienced then were over.
I've yet to resume.
Since then, each time I came to visit the forum to get a sense of the state of BD, I saw fresh posts about problems, and fresh replies, some of which were unhelpful at best, and downright insulting at worst.
People who have accounts here DO have a right to complain about the ongoing problems.
I've now given up on BD and have moved to VOX. By doing this, I have to sacrifice the great customization that BD offers, but I gain reliable performance and confidence that my friends/readers and I can access my blog.
Those volunteers who've chastised members who complain would do well to remember that blogging is inherently an on-line activity. If BD is incapable of providing reliable on-line service, then what in hell are they doing in the business?
And if you *volunteer* to assist in this humorously-named "Help Forum", then you should refrain from passing judgment on the quality of another member's blog. Whether or not it is to your taste is neither here nor there. The fact is that that member came here for help and answers and got none.
BD just reeks of unprofessionalism. _________________ If you show me yours, I'll show you mine. |

First myself and my husband are paid members. Second we never complain about the service, because we know that IF we wanted we could write Blogdrive support and get our money back. Then close our account if we were that dissatisfied and move elsewhere.
I agree with you on many downtime issues, but complaining whiners (not you) don't make the issue get any better.
The only thing I personally can recomend, is that those that aren't satisfied contact support@blogdrive.com and in the header write '*IMPORTANT* Account Issue' and in the body add your account number and url and that you want a refund.
I'm sorry there are so many people upset over the upgrades, maintence, power issues etc.. on Blogdrive. I have been here since nearly its conception. I've always love this site. We keep a backup blogging site at Yahoo 360, so our social blogging can continue unintrupted. Yahoo 360 is free.
*NOTE* to jFz... IF you read this, can you also move this thread to the Romper Room? Thanks, Pen _________________ sometimes the bug ~ sometimes the windshield |

There's a couple more that are looking more and more that they too should be in the Romper Room, at least there we can spit our dummies out without spoiling the expensive decor..... _________________ My Blog, My Site (over 18's only please) & |

Actually -- I would feel a tad unethical asking BD for a refund. First -- I doubt I'd ever get one and secondly -- It'd be hypocritical because I've paid my subscription for many months now, so it's actually more my fault than BD's. I also realize that BD is a smaller service and doesn't have the financial resources of corporate-owned services like Blogger (Google-owned), so it wouldn't be fair to ask.

I can agree that "whining" solves little to none of our problems with this (or any service), but you also have to understand that many of the people complaining are coming from a place of extreme frustration. Many users have mass readerships and some even make money from their blogs, so their anger is (at the very least) understandable. While I understand that whining in and of itself does nothing to remedy the problem(s), people sometimes need to vent (though I don't really know what to think of the posts I've seen from rymza). When all is said and done, it's the back and forth that I don't like. People get upset and -- users that frequent the Help Forum (and offer help) occasionally get upset back. I've been snapped at in the past for simply asking a question, for Fates' sake; though it's in the past, exchanges of this sort continue in the Help Forum and -- consequently -- have cast a dark pall on Blogdrive as a service. Can you imagine what some of the new users are thinking when they go into the Help Forum and see all this condescension and hostility going on? It doesn't help Blogdrive's image.
Thank you for not referring to me as a "whiner" ssprite; I appreciate that. Perhaps we had a misunderstanding as I meant you no harm or disrespect either. May we all learn to get along and make the best of this service. _________________ The Fates Bless and Keep You Always... |
